Forgive me I couldn't resist the title! This is another reference from Wet Canvas and I love the photo I worked from. It tells a story in itself and those are always fun.
I used to have some Rhode Island Red hens and they had the fluffiest feathered butts. Each had their own personality and were just so much fun to watch. Doing this pastel reminded me of them. There are some days I think I would like to get some more chickens but then I think better of it. I listen to my neighbors roosters crow and enjoy them from afar.
My hens did produce some wonderful brown eggs though. . .

Eeeheheh!! Love it!
I can't believe you also included all that detail in the fencing too! Another wonderful piece of one of my favorite subjects... cluck cluck
What a great piece, Love all her feathers. My husband would like a few chickens, maybe someday.
How funny! And very good painting too - I love how you did the feathers! Can't wait to paint together!?!
Hi Sheila - LOL I'm glad you like my chicken. I've been wanting to put some chicken wire in one of my chicken paintings and had put it off afraid it would be too much but I like the effect on this one and the background needed something.
Hey Holly thank you so much! I hope one of these days you can get some chickens - the fresh eggs are great and they are fun to watch. You can sit out on the porch and watch them hunt for bugs which is another advantage to having chickens!
Thanks Regina ;-) I'm glad you like my hen and the title :-O It was a perfect photo to work from to get the feather effect. One of these days we are just going to have to set a date to paint together.
Love the rooster! Beautiful colors. Great job on the fence too I'd have had wires going all over the place. I love the title LOL fits it perfectly.
Hi DeeDee - great to see you here! I'm glad you like this one LOL - I'm glad you like the title too - I think it fits. ;-)
Beautiful painting, Karen. And the title is sooo funny!
Thanks Carolina! The title does make you smile doesn't it? Thanks again.
Karen,
I have also nabbed this photo from wet canvas...wasn't sure if I would try watercolor or pencil, but my thought for a title was similar. Worrying about how big our 'buts' are must be a woman thing!
This is beautifully done, with the 'focal point' in just the right place.
Hi Marsha - ha - great minds. . .I think it would work in either watercolor or pencil very well. Can't wait to see your version.
This is a lovely little painting. I want chickens. What sold me was the title!!
