This is from a reference from Karin Jurick's Different Strokes From Different Folks. I figured it would be a good one to get back into the swing of things.
I don't know about you, but I'm ready for lunch!
Genesis 1:29
29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

Hi, Karen, from a fellow Texan. Just found your site through DSFDF...and what a grand entry this is! Love the cropping you did on the vegetables and the colors with the softness of the pastels is "right on"!
Wow, Karen! What a come-back!
Hi Ann - I'm so glad you stopped by! Great to meet a fellow Texan. I lived in N. Texas for over 25 years - kind of miss it. I'm glad you my vegetables - I checked your out and love the tablecloth - nice touch.
Hi Carolina! Thanks so much - your comment made me smile.
What a beautiful piece. This looks photographic and then has a such a soft lush feel upon closer inspection. The colours and composition are wonderful, well done.
Ooooh, a juicy new painting from Karen! Love it!
Thank you very much Vern! I'm glad you like it. BTW - I took a look at your blog - very nice!
Hey Susan - good to see you! Thanks! I've been trying to drop in to see what you are up to occasionally - hopely things will slow down a bit now and I can visit at length.
Hi Karen! This Vegetable Plate is so realistic. I thought it was a photo at first. Great work!
Thanks for visiting my blog. :)
Thanks Akiko! I had both the photo and my pastel on the ottoman and walked by it and glanced at the two side by side and had to laugh because it took me a minute to figure out which was mine. That was a funny feeling!
Great cropping and lovely soft feel!
Hi Maria - thanks so much! I'm glad that you stopped in.
I love the smoothness of this painting! You did a lovely job!
Your work is beautiful!! I especially love the roosters. I'm a fellow pastelist in northeast Louisiana--found you on DSDF and look forward to seeing more of your work! (I may have to try velour....I love what you do with it.)
Thanks Laurens - this one was fun to do! I appreciate you stopping by anc commenting.
Kim - thank you! Good to meet another pastelist. I hope you do try velour - I love it! Besides the soft surface there is practically no dust which is important to me. Thanks for stopping in.
Karen,
Excellent !!!
The veggies look like one could pick them off of the paper.
I'll look forward to that visit, Karen! See you soon....
Thanks Bonnielynn - I got kind of hungry when I was working on this piece ;-)
See you soon Susan!
Wow Karen, just fantastic. I think some of the best paintings came from this reference photo Karin provided. My favorite anyway.
Looks like a photo - and I mean that in a good way. Great job.
Thanks Barb! I agree.
Hi Carol! I'm glad you like this one. Sometimes people don't like really realistic paintings - I've tried to be more painterly but the details just pop out LOL!
really wonderful paintings. Your pastel work is superb.
Gary thank you so much for the kind words - much appreciated. I took a peek at your blog too - love your work.
Wonderful work, Karen! The ultra smooth tomatoes look luscious!
Hi Dean! Thanks so much - the tomatoes were fun to do. I 'm glad you like how this turned out. I sure like your version too.
