I just couldn't leave well enough alone - OK. This painting has been bugging me - a lot! After making the alterations in the second version it looked too plain to me - as if it needed something. So logically. . . I added chickens.
The second version doesn't exist any more - but I have chickens now and I think I like it better. The chickens aren't quite as red as they appear here but they are Rhode Island Reds.

I promise I won't be adding any more to this - the tooth of the paper is almost full and probably won't take much more pastel. I really am finished this time.

I like it better with the chickens Karen. It tells more of a story now.
Hey at least you can name your chickens. Ha better than I did.
I think you hit the nail on the head. It tells a story now. It was poor planning on my part. I'm so glad you like it better - me too.
These are actually my chickens (or were) I had taken several pictures of them when I had them and used a couple of the photos as a reference for this comp.
LOL - You were on the right track naming your chicken - which I love BTW!
Hi Karen, You can see I am behind, as always. I love the chickens in this. :) Isn't it fun to see what people do with the same reference? Again, love it!
Hi Jo - I'm glad you like the chickens - I thought they added a bit of life to the painting. Thanks!
