Thank goodness the watermarks were easy to cover up this morning and the paper took a bit more pastel! I made a few adjustments with his mane since taking away part of his chest it changed the way his neck would be. His mane is a little exaggerated in length. Even though he has the most beautiful thick mane and a tail that is not only thick but touches the ground, his mane it isn't quite this long. I figured that is my artistic license so it really doesn't matter that much.

Regardless of the outcome of this painting it will still make great prints and I'll enjoy the original so all is not lost. I still want to do the original comp but I don't know if I'll start on it next or not. I didn't realize how much of myself I had put into this painting and I want to do something not quite so intense if that makes any sense. I have several reference photos of Billy Bob that I want to do so I may pick another one before doing this one completely over. But don't worry I plan on doing it again - it's one of those paintings that begs to be done - so keep an eye out for it!

You did a wonderful, wonderful job on this painting, Karen. I do miss his chest after all, so I'm glad you're going to take another run at this great fellow again. I wish I could get up close and personal on this painting and enjoy every pastel stroke. Wow.

Hi Susan. Yes the whole dynamics of the painting changed by changing the composition. It's still a good painting of him but doesn't have the same "feeling" about it. Thanks.

Karen, I think it is wonderful. Sorry for your struggles but from my point of view the change is very nice, a happy accident.
