Look what a piece of art help me get!

I'm the proud owner of a "new to me" Volvo CX-90 and a piece of my art helped me get the price lower without me even trying - a real blessing! I was talking with seller about the car and he was trying to work with me as much as he could on the price. At the end of the conversation he handed me his business card and I reached in my purse and handed him my art business card.
He was immediately interested when he saw the drawing on my business card which happened to be my pencil drawing of a mare and her baby, "Tender Moments." He told me he has a sister who shows and trains horses. They were going to visit her that weekend for her birthday and he hadn't figured out what to get her yet and he thought that drawing would be perfect. I had the drawing already framed and matted so it was ready to go. I told him the price - he deducted it from the price of the car making it a win, win situation! By the way, I sent extra brochures and business cards with him to give to his sister so she can give to others. When he got back from his visit he said the drawing was a big hit and my business cards are circulating in the show horse world in two states. Too cool!
Here is "Tender Moments" - the original is sold ;-) but prints are still available.

2 Corinthians 5:6 - 8
6 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord --
7 for we walk by faith, not by sight --
8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.

Woohoo!!! The barter process is growing so much more these days. I've used it a couple of times to help me out of a bind.

I LOVE your new car. Volvo's are one of the safest on the road. Congratulations!

Hi Sheila! Thanks! Yep I was quite surprised and pleased needless to say.

I love my car too ;-) I've had two other Volvo's and if this one last as long as my others 257,000 and 198,000 miles respectively I'll be really happy. I always feel safe in them. My family has had Volvo's forever.

Hey Carolina - it was exciting and gratifying - thanks!

Hi Dean - thank you. That drawing was one of my favorites and really fun to draw. It's nice to know it went to a horse lover.

Hi Jennie - thanks so much and thanks for visiting my blog. I checked your blog out - you have some beautiful work.

Karen,
I thought I left a comment here earleir humm... Anyway, congratulations, a new 'different' car is always an uplift and to sell a drawing as well...what an added bonus.

Although, I have to admit that I hated to see you let this one go. It's always been one of my favorites. The connections between mother and foul is palpable.

Hi Marsha - thanks. It was tough when I drew this one to think about letting the original go but - I can't keep them all ;-) I don't sell any of BillyBob's (my horse) originals though. The good thing is I have great prints from my Epson 2400.

Fabulous!!!!
Isn't it great when your talent is appreciated....

Trading what you do best for goods and services is a great American tradition. I am so happy for you both as you both ended up with something you wanted.

Those horses ARE absolutely gorgeous!!!

Thanks Marian - too bad it wasn't for the full price of the car - but I was tickled pink anyway. I love my car and my horses found a good home ;-)
