This one started off much different than it ended up. I had originally had in my mind doing a praying man, praying for our nation. I have this overwhelming concern for our nation, that our leaders are changing it from the inside out and we are going to end up bankrupt, socialized and living in a Marxist country with no voice of freedom allowed anywhere.
I had e-mail Dean Haven to see if he had any photo references he could send me. He has done some incredible praying men in the past including his most current piece In God We Still Trust. He was kind enough to share with me the reference he used in for that painting from Wet Canvas.
I started on my painting earlier today and then it started going in another direction but I had already put in my background and couldn't correct it without it looking muddy. So I started over knowing this time the direction I wanted to go or was being led to go.

My painting reminds me of some old Biblical paintings of our Lord. When thinking about why the direction of my painting changed, because I really had it in my mind to do something completely different, I decided it really hadn't changed - after all we are to bring all things to Him in prayer. It was a neat feeling completing the painting as He wanted me to.
Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
