I am so glad I didn't throw this one away because I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. I tried not to go overboard with the details and to use broader strokes - I'm trying to loosen up some - and that is hard for me to do. It is a tad lighter in real life - at least comparing it on my computer screen to the original so I hope it shows up OK on yours.

Good job Karen, you truly captured the wonderful presence of this animal. I too am working on velour now, it's a challenge thouggh, I see you have mastered it. Hope I get to that stage.

Thanks Rae. I think once you get the hang of working on velour you will love it. I don't use anything else - I other papers difficult and messy. Funny what we get used to.

He turned out GREAT! Lions are difficult to paint because they don't have distinct markings like tigers and leopards. You've done a great job.

The ugly stages in art are similar to ugly stages in life...simply have the courage to work through them...there's often something wonderful waiting at the other end of the journey.
